The Duromax XP4850EH is a dual powered portable generator that can run on either liquid propane or gasoline. Giving you two means to fuel and run this generator.

Duro Power manufactures Duromax generators; it is a California based company. These generators are ruggedly built to give a dependable service. All of the Duromax generators have cast iron sleeves in their engines for better performance and a longer life.

Duromax generators are also very affordable and are very fuel efficient, giving a greater value to the consumers than other generators. Although in the past there has been some customer service and defective part issue, recent feedback indicates an improvement on both areas.

The Duromax XP4850EH dual fuel portable generator is equipped with a 7 HP 210cc 4stroke air cooled engine. This engine lets this generator deliver 3850 watts of continuous power while being able to surge up to 4850 watts. Running propane you can expect a 10% reduction in output capability.

Outlets are a duplex 5-20R providing up to 2400 watts total for the set and a L14-30R providing up to the continuous capacity of 3850 watts.

The control panel is located on the side of the generator.

When you face the control panel you can see that to the extreme left top you have the Engine switch which is used to start/run/stop the generator. To the right of that switch you have the Voltmeter and below that you have a circuit breaker for the 12 Volt outlet and the 12 Volt DC outlet.

To the right of the Voltmeter you have a set of duplex 120Volt 20 amp AC outlets and to the right of them you have the AC 120Volt/240Volt 30 amp twist lock outlet. To the right of the twist lock outlet you have the 120Volt/240Volt switch which lets you control the Voltage for the twist lock outlet.

To the right of the voltage switch you have the main Circuit breaker that controls the AC outlets and below that you have the Ground Terminal.

Start-up

This dual fuel portable generator is equipped with an electric start system as well as a recoil rope system to start the engine of the generator.

Before you start the generator check and see that it is placed on a flat level surface. Check and see that there are no loads connected to the generator. Also check the engine oil level. If you are using gasoline as fuel, check the fuel level in the fuel tank.

If you are using propane as fuel, check and see that the propane tank is connected properly to the generator and also check to see that the gasoline fuel valve is turned to the Off position.

Here are the steps to be taken to start this generator.

  1. Make sure that the Main circuit breaker is turned to the Off position.
  2. If using propane see that the fuel valve on the propane tank is in the Open position. If using gasoline as fuel see that the gasoline fuel valve is in the Open position.
  3. Pull the Choke rod to the Closed position.
  4. If using the recoil starter turn the Engine switch to the On position, then pull the recoil grip slowly till you feel a resistance, then pull sharply.
  5. If using the electric starter, turn the Engine switch to the Start position and hold upto 5 seconds or till the engine starts.
  6. When the engine starts let the Engine switch return to the Run position.
  7. Push the Choke rod slowly to the Open position.
  8. Let the engine warm for a couple of minutes before connecting loads to the generator.

Shut Down

  1. Turn the main circuit breaker to the Off position.
  2. Turn the engine switch to the Off position.
  3. If using gasoline as fuel, turn the fuel valve to the Off position.
  4. If using propane as fuel turn the fuel valve on the propane tank to the Off position..
