Champion 7500W/9375W Generator

The Champion Power Equipment 41537 gas powered portable generator is a heavy duty generator in their line up of generators. With a rated continuous output of 7,500 watts and a surge capability of 9,375 watts

Model 41537 is CARB compliant, mid-weight, fuel efficient and comes with an electric start.

Champion Power Equipment is a company that is wholly US owned and operated company. It has its manufacturing facilities in China and they specialize in the design and manufacture of dependable, durable and affordable power equipment including generators and inverters.

This generator can be easily used as a backup power source for your home during power outages. It can also be used on job sites where there is a need for electricity for power tools and equipment. It can also serve as a backup for your larger RV purposes to power your electrical appliances.

Power Output and Generation

The Champion Power Equipment 41537 gas powered portable generator is equipped with a powerful 439 cc 4 stroke OHV engine using a cast iron sleeve for long life. It delivers 7,200 watts of continuous power while being able to surge up to 9,375 watts. Do realize that although rated at this wattage it is not fully designed for long term output at this level.

This engine can be started with either the electric start or the backup recoil rope. The engine has the auto shutdown oil sensing system at low oil..

Outlet configurations

Output is to two 5-20R duplex outlets. and one L14-30R receptacle. It utilizes two 120V circuits. The electrical diagram shows a full 30 amp circuit breaker per circuit and a circuit breaker of 20 amps for each duplex plug (5-20R) for 2400W on each set

Note: The information provided on Amazon on the configuration is not correct for this model, miss-labeling the L14 and indicating that there is a L5 outlet which it does not have..

If using all the duplex plugs max output is 4800 watts total. With the NEMA L14-30R. you can pull 30 amps max in either 120V or 240V mode for plugs providing 3600W on each circuit.and a max output of 7200W, although its rated at 7500 rated watts.

You can utilize all three outlets sets, but will be limited by the individual 20 amp and 30 amp combination. At 120V that’s a limitation of 3600W usable for the combination of one leg of the L14 and one of the duplex plugs.

There is no 12V DC configuration for this unit, but does charge the battery when it is running. If you don’t run it long you may want to pick up a trickle charger at 1.5A rating.

These are two good examples of trickle chargers:

Fuel Type and Noise Levels:

The Champion Power Equipment 41537 generator is gasoline powered and has a fuel tank capacity of 5.9 gallons which lets it run for 8 hours at 50% load capacity. This generator produces a noise level of 74 Db at 23 feet making it a bit loud.

It is CARB compliant for California market giving it a good use rating for construction and recreation use.

Because of a lack of vent in the fuel tank cap it can create a vacuum or pressure with temperature changes. Loosing the cap before using will ensure proper fuel flow. Otherwise the sealed tank is good for not allowing escape of vapors. (Note that there are claims on a similar model for fuel leak problems which were handled and not applicable to this model.

Oil needed is the standard 10W-30 oil for crane shaft at 1.16 qts. It does come with the first oil fill. For extreme temperatures the manual provides recomendations at given ambient tempertures.

We appreciate the fact that CPE accounts for high altitude use and the manufacture can provide main carburetor jets to compensate for typical issues of starting and fouling, but not for the expected power loss..

Noise:

This generator has a noise level of 74DBA at 23 feet. This is loud compared to other models that manage noise levels at 70 and below. This may not be the best model to consider for residential use unless you have the ability to block noise or make a sound deadening structure. For commercial/ industrial use it should be in the basic background noise for such sites.
